Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot mop we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaner best uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
